Paycheques and Poutine

A few weeks ago I was sitting on a VIA train, somewhere between Belleville and Cobourg, heading back to Durham Region from Montreal. My wife and I spent a few days there touring the sights, eating, drinking (more me than here) and trying to fit in as best we could as obvious anglophones. “Je m’excuse – je parle un p’tit peu de francais, mais je n’edute pas, uh, since, uh, l’ecole secondaire.” “That’s OK bro, you’re in... A few years ago, while working for the City of Toronto, I was asked to write a short presentation about social media for people who were new to using social media. Have a quick look at my logo. No, not the text - the image on the right. See the dogs in the middle? That's Nick and Norman - our retired racing greyhounds. In real life, they're not exactly the same size. Nick weighs about 25lbs more than Norman does; 85 compared to 60. Nick is the gentle giant and Norman is the little Energizer bunny. They're the best dogs in the world - don't even try to change my mind. I wanted to make sure they were incorporated into my... [read more]

What's In Your Trunk?

I was recently asked to do a presentation to our brokerage on a topic I love talking about.  As REALTORS®, we often consider our knowledge, our education and our experience to be our “tools of the trade” and while that’s absolutely true, there are some physical tangible tools that often help us do the physical aspect of our jobs. We also wear many hats as agents. We take on the roles of CEO, Marketing Director, Financial Analyst, Sales Manager, Maintenance and... [read more]
